• Notes

  Katherine Deibel was born at RIESCHWEILER in the province of Bavaria, Germany on Sept. 4, 1839. In the autumn of the year of 1856, she came by sail boat with her brother John Fredrick to America. The trip was 36 days in length and each person brought along his own provisions and did his own cooking whenever convenient. Katherine Deibel Disque was 17 years of age then and before her marriage served as a cook for a few years in several of the wealthy homes in the eastern states finally settling in the Wilkes-Barre, Penn. area where she married Henry Disque in 1865.
