JOHNSON, Melita (KUKERT)
McClusky - Melita Johnson, 77, Bismarck, and formerly of McClusky, died
Oct. 23, 1987, in a Bismarck hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McClusky Baptist Chruch, with
burial in McClusky City Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Monday at
Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky, and continues at the church for an hour
before services.
Melita Kukert was born June 21, 1910, at Kief and as a child moved with
her parents to Saskatchewan. They moved back to a farm near Kief in
1925 and she later moved to McClusky. In 1942, she moved to San
Francisco, where she was an assistant manager in a restaurant. In 1947
she returned to the McClusky area. She married Edwin Johnson, Oct. 3,
1956, in Bismarck, and they lived in McClusky. She owned and operated
Melita's Cafe and later the drive-in. She retired in the early 1970s.
He died in 1977. In 1984, she moved to a nursing home in Harvey and in
1986 she moved to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.
She was once married to Gust Hieb.
She is survived by a son, Ron Hieb, Bismarck; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin
(Delores) Schick, Grand Forks; four sisters, Rosie Johnson, Emma Herr,
and Elsie Reiswig, all of McClusky, and Alma Hegel, Bismarck, a borther,
Walter, McClusky; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
