Jeanette Ruth Bolf
Jeanette Ruth Bolf, 84, a life-long resident of Big Cedar Lake suffered a massive stroke and died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009.
Jean was born in the home she loved on Oct. 14, 1924, to Joseph and Ione (Kuckuk) Baier. She married her childhood sweetheart John Bolf on April 30, 1949, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Slinger and shared 52 special years of marriage.
Jean loved animals, gardening, nature and the great outdoors and especially flowers. She worked as a floor manager at Holten & Hunkel Greenhouse and later worked for Verna Yeadeke in a local greenhouse. Jean was a "people person" and wore many hats from being a sales clerk at Gimbels in Milwaukee, creating beautiful Christmas wreaths which she sold locally and at craft shows, selling produce from her own garden at the farmers market, and being a store pricer at St. Vincent De Paul store in West Bend before her retirement.
She loved the lake, loved to swim, fish and just sit on her porch at night to watch the activities on the lake. She always had to keep busy. She lived independently in her own home up until just this past winter when she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law and looked forward to getting back to her own home to start planting her tomato plants in spring.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Toni Nelson (Bill) of West Bend; grandchildren, Alicia Strangfeld (Mike) of Brookfield and Chris Nelson (Jessie) of Waukesha; and great grandchildren, Sam and Nora Strangfeld, her dear friends, relatives and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, whom she missed dearly and has now been reunited in eternal life with them.
Visitation with be held at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 629 Cedar St., West Bend, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence, with burial to immediately follow in the church cemetery. Light refreshments will be served in the church basement following interment which family and friends are encouraged to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Jeans name be made to Interfaith Caregivers, a special program that touched her life or St. Lawrence parish.
