Funeral services of the late Fred Blattner were held at the St. Mary's church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 27. Rev. Father Thomas Loftus, officiated. Members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Oskaloosa Elks, No. 340 and Oskaloosa Aerie No. 276, Fraternal Order of Eagles, attended in a body. The deceased held membership in both organizations. The Order of Elks had charge of the services at the grave and the body was laid to rest with the burial service of that order. Frank Nowles, R. T. Penders, C. O. Stringfellow, W. L. Neagle, J. J. Himes and Frank Cowan, intimate fiends of the deceased, acted as pallbearers. Deceased was well known in Oskaloosa business circles, having been born and raised here, and was a son of the late Chas. Blattner. He had served in the council at different times. He leaves a wife and one daughter to mourn the loss of a husband and father.
