  [S927] Obituary. une 4, 1925 -- Dec. 17, 2002 Dorothy Helen Schnabel, 77, of Tripp, S.D. died Tuesday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. She was in Albany visiting a daughter. Born in Tripp, S.D., she lived in the Tripp area all her life and attended a one-room school. She was the daughter of V.J. and Bozena (Ded) Cihak, and married Edwin E. Schnabel on March 5, 1946, in Vodnany, S.D. Her husband died June 28, 1999. Mrs. Schnabel belonged to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and a bowling league that she served as secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Schnabel owned and operated a bowling alley for two years and was inducted in the South Dakota Bowling Hall of Fame. She loved life and her children and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling. Surviving are sons Leland of Omaha, Neb., and Larry of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughters Bessie Johnson of Albany and Jessica Dix of Mesquite, Nev.; fiance Gilbert Buchholz of Cupertino, Calif.; brothers Wesley Cihak of Arlington, Texas, Charles Cihak Sr. of Fort Worth, Texas, and Steven Cihak of Wagner, S.D.; and sister Lillian Rothschadl of Tyndall, S.D. There are seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Brother Julius Cihak and sisters Ester Brooks, Francis Lipsky and Marie Merideth preceded her in death. Services will be held in Tripp, S.D. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Tripp. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
