Edward L. Lang, 84, of Boonville, passed away on Friday, March 16th, 2012. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 19th, 2012 with Father Bob Duesdieker officiating. Visitation for Ed will be at the church, two hours prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Martinsville. Edward Leo Lang was born Oct. 17th, 1927, the son of George W. Lang and Minnie Sophie Vollmer Lang. He married Mary Margaret ‘Micky' Oswald in 1949 at Martinsville Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in1976. Five years later he married Peggy Sloan in Boonville. He farmed his entire life in Cooper County. Ed was a devout member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed life as a family man who looked forward, each year, to their family vacations. He was very community minded and was instrumental in the formation of the West Boonville Community Center and the formation of the Blackwater Rural Water District, as its first president. He also looked forward to playing cards with family and friends. Besides his first wife, Mr. Lang was preceded in death by his wife Peggy (2008) and by a brother, Leonard A. Lang and his sister, Edith Lang Grissum. He is survived by his children, Paul A. Lang (Velma) of Boonville, Steve E. Lang (Lisa) of Wildwood, MO, and his daughter, Mary Ellen Roth of Boonville. His sisters, Rosemary Larm, of Boonville and Sister Lucy Lang, OSF, of Independence, MO and a brother, John W. Lang of Blackwater, also survive. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
