WINDBER ? SHAFFER ? Dennis, 71, Windber, died Dec. 31, 2011, at Windber Medical Center. Born Jan. 15, 1940, in Windber, son of Myron and Betty (Ringler) Shaffer. Preceded in death by mother, and brother, Richard. Survived by father; wife of 50 years, the former Elaine Gaydos; daughter, Janice, wife of Dr. John Mucciola, all of Windber; and son, Timothy, Bedford, Texas. Loving grandfather to Nicholas and Lauren Mucciola. Brother of Jay, married to the former Patty Novak, Windber. Also survived by sister-in-law, the former Suzi Gillespie, widow of Richard, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was an avid fisherman who loved his grandchildren dearly. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Ruby Mader, officiating. Interment, St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Windber. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the family.
