Rutherford, 82, formerly of Cairo, WV died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at her grandson's residence in Parkersburg, WV.She was born July 10, 1924, in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late Samuel Stephen Shields and India Catherine Hanshumaker Shields. She was a homemaker and worked for Ideal Box, American Viscose and in the garment industry. She was a member of the Cairo Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Baker (Dencil) of Ellenboro,WV, Sylvia Layfield (Ed Bolicks) of Parkersburg, and Mabel Dianne Flanagan (Kevin) of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Rev. Ronald Rutherford, in 2008; seven brothers and sisters, Oren, Carrie, Mae Myrtle Jane, Everette, Albert, Frederick and Ronald Ray and infant twins; and son-in-law, Curtis Dean Layfield.Services were held Friday, Aug. 5th, at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, with the Rev.
