Petty, 67, of 45342 S.R. 800, Woodsfield, Ohio died Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on August 23, 1942 a daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy Beardmore Christman. Hazel was a homemaker and a former co-owner of the Ashland Fuel Distribution/Woodsfield Bottle Gas, Woodsfield, Ohio; a lifetime member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio; member of the Order of Eastern Star #268, Woodsfield, Ohio. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, cooking, flower gardening and her cats, Ralph, Tommy, Tiny but most importantly her family. Surviving are her husband, Raymond E. Petty whom she married on November 27, 1960; two daughters: Kimberly (Carl F.) Whitacre of Graysville, Ohio and Krista (Michael) Mann of Springfield, Virginia; three brothers: Charles (Rosalie) Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio, Paul R. (Lucille) Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio and Mark (Kelly) Christman of Woodsfield, Ohio; two sisters: Betty (David) Young of Loudonville, Ohio and Mary (Kerry) Hartline of Cameron, Ohio; three grandchildren: Carl Edward Whitacre, Caleb Michael Mann and Addison Leigh Mann; one great grandson: Tyler Edward Whitacre; several nieces and nephews and special kittens: Ralph, Tommy and Tiny. Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2009 where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 with Rev. Frank Lehosky officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio. Eastern Star services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
