Rose was born Dec. 8, 1923, to George and Mary (Schmidt) Zander at Crown Butte, where she attended rural school and helped on the family farm until 1948, when she moved to Mandan to begin a new job. She married Connie Erhardt on June 27, 1949, at St. Vincent's Church, Crown Butte, and togetherthey raised two children, Gloria and Wally. Their special marriage of 56 years was an inspiration to all who knew and loved them.
Throughout her life, Rose shared her talents with many. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, active in Eucharistic ministry and parish councils.
Rose was a charter member of Catholic Daughters of America for 50 years and held all offices including regent and state chairperson. Rose often reflected on the many years of fond memories while working at Taylor Drug Store until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of RSVP and the Railroad Museum. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her beautiful roses and abundant vegetables, which she canned or shared with her family and friends. Rose belonged to a dedicated group of women who sewed quilts and infant layettes for those in need. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crafts, playing cards and dancing. Rose belonged to a Birthday Club with a group of special ladies for 40 years. In recent years, her labor of love was to care for her beloved husband, Connie.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Gloria and her husband, Jim Ciavarella; their children, Kari (Jason) Jesch, James Ciavarella, and David Ciavarella; great-granddaughters, Grace and Anna Jesch; and her son, Wally and his wife, Rox Erhardt; their children, Jessica (Mike) Wetsch, Missy Erhardt and Mindy Erhardt.
