MORTON - Mary Ann Kocks, 83, of Morton, formerly of Peoria, died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at her home.
She was born April 25, 1927, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Joseph and Helen (Sarrizan) Hambrock. She married John M. Kocks on Feb. 12, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Surviving are her husband of Morton; her children, Catherine (Bill) Wiltz of Peoria, John (Kathy) Kocks of New Orleans, La., Susan (Tom) Solazzo of Bartlett, Ill., Joseph (Fabby) Kocks of Graham, Wash., Mary Ann (Brian) Allen of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Patrick (Alyson) Kocks of Price, Utah; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; one brother, Kenneth (Leona) Hambrock of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and two sisters, Joan Creigh of Monticello, Ind., and Ruth Ann Pliett of Fort Wayne.
Mary Ann was a former charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria before moving to Morton, where she became a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She and her husband served as communion ministers at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and worked in the Missionaries of Charities Soup Kitchen, both in Peoria, for many years.
She made Cursillo 13 and later was a Rectora and continued to be active as a Cursillo member.
Mary Ann was loved by family and friends for the unconditional love and kindness she showed everyone. She will be missed and the memory of her smile will remain forever.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria, with Franciscan Friars officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
