Herbert E. Leterle
NESS CITY - Herbert Eugene Leterle, 72, died May 27, 2006, in Ness City.
He was born July 28, 1933, in Osage County, Okla., the son of Cris and Viola Reynolds Leterle. A resident of Ness City since 1988, moving from Jefferson, Okla., he worked maintenance for the states of Kansas and Oklahoma, and was retired from the military.
He belonged to First Mennonite Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7972, both in Ransom, and American Legion Frank Stull Post No. 152, Ness City. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1955. Then he served in the U.S. Air Force until 1972, and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
On July 7, 1954, he married Della Lou Will in Fredericksburg, Va. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Kenneth E., Spearville; three daughters, Kathy L. Salem, Cimarron, Kaye L. Kinnamon, Montezuma, and Kristie W. Corey, Pueblo West, Colo.; a brother, Donald, Ness City; three sisters, Frances Gabel, Shirley Kraft and Carol Schwein, all of Ness City; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, with Pastor Eric Buller presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ness City Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Ransom V.F.W., the Brownell American Legion Dale Sunley Post and the Ness City American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.
