Lester Dobbs, 89, of Northgate Drive died at 5:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Dobbs retired from Golden Foundry, where he worked for 45 years, and was a member of First Assembly of God Church. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Charles and Carolyn Gillihan officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Indiana School for the Blind. Mr. Dobbs was born in Columbus Dec. 10, 1912, the son of Charles M. and Myrtle Rambo Dobbs. He married Wilma I. Hendershot Dec. 25, 1932. She survives. Additional survivors include a son, Charles J. Dobbs of Columbus; a daughter, Juanita Slaughter of Greenfield; brothers, Fred Dobbs of Columbus and James Dobbs of Marion; a sister, Ruth Spilman of London, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
