DOROTHY 'DOT' MAE BURGER ASPENLEITER SAICHEK, 100 ROCKFORD - Dorothy "Dot" Mae Burger Aspenleiter Saichek, 100, of Rockford died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, in River Bluff Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Born Feb. 3, 1910, in Sterling, the daughter of Melvin and Mamie (Childs) Burger. Married Jacob Aspenlei-ter on June 18, 1931. Survivors include brother, Raymond Morris; children, Jeane Perlinger, Joan (Jack) Saichek and Jack (Lana) Aspenleiter; grandchildren, Randy (Cher) Perlinger, Cheryl (Lyle) Page, Brian Perlinger, Steven (Michelle) Saichek, Susan Leombruni, Jill Alms, Connie (Gerud) Elson and Bob Aspenle-iter; 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nu-merous nieces, nephews and great-nephews and -nieces. Pre-deceased by her brother, Laur-ence Burger; husband, Jacob V. Aspenleiter; second husband, Harold Saichek; sister-in-law, Mil-dred Morris; son-in-law, Ed Per-linger; grandson, Scott Perlinger; and three schnauzers, Ginger, Gigi and Kelly. Besides dogs, Dot loved dancing, bowling, cooking, baking and Brett Favre (her walker was decorated in green and gold). At age 83, she was still driving, dog at her side, from Ne-braska to Rockford to visit her family. She worked variously as a telephone operator, Avon lady, saleslady and manager of a women's apparel shop. Volunteer work included driving people to church, helping with blood drives at the Red Cross and making blintzes at Temple Beth El. Her favorite times were spent enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private graveside service in East Jordan Cemetery, Polo. Do-nations may be made in Dot's name to Alzheimer's Association or Winnebago County Division of Animal Services. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home.
