Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with Rev. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Burial was in Mandan Union Cemetery. Magdelen was born Nov. 7, 1919, at St. Anthony, ND, the daughter of Alfred and Rosa (Schaner). Raised and educated in the area, she married George Kautzman June 6, 1939. They lived and farmed on his father's farm until 1959 when they moved to Mandan. Maggie then worked as a housekeeper in private homes. Maggie is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Ruben) Schaaf, Evelyn Baumgartner, Jeanette Bauer, Georgene(David )Keller and Deb (Brent) Geiss, all of Bismarck; her son, Marvin (Josephine), Racine, WI.; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Bertha Flink and Monica (Nick) Zueger, all of Mandan, and Hildegard(Mel) Pallen, Lolo, Mt.; and her brothers, Stanley (Maxine) Helbling, Mandan, Alfred Helbling, el Cajon, CA. and Tom (Jan), St. Cloud, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband ,George, who died Jan. 29, 2003; one son, Leslie; daughter, Gloria; son-in-law, Celestine Bauer; sisters, Mary Bullinger and Genevieve Wetsch, brothers, Joseph Helbling, John Helbling, Martin Helbling ;step brothers,Joe Knoll and Emil Knoll; sons-in-law, Mike Flink and John Bullinger and many nieces and nephews. Maggie's parents immigrated from Speier, South Russia.
