Mary was born Nov. 21, 1924, south of Mandan, the daughter of Alfred and Rose (Shaner) Helbling. Raised and educated in the area, she married John J. Bullinger Sept. 10, 1946, in St. Anthony. They farmed for several years before moving into Mandan, where May was employed as CNA at the Mandan Hospital for 53 years. Visiting her daughters and spending time with her beloved grandchildren was also important to her.
