  [S927] Obituary. Velma E. Christman age 87, of Ashland, died Monday May 21, 2012 at the Inn at Halcyon Village in Marysville. She was born March 29, 1925 in Monroe Co., the daughter of Ernest and Irene (Shafer) Haas. Mrs. Christman had been a resident of Ashland since 1952. She was a Homemaker and had worked on the switchboard for the Faultless Rubber Co. Mrs. Christman was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed ceramics and shopping along with tending to her flowers and garden. On August 21, 1946 Velma married Vernon H. Christman who preceded her in death in 2007. Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Jerry and Sandi Christman of Reno, NV; her daughter and son in-law, Denise and Bob Kapps of Columbus; her four grandchildren, Marissa Christman of Reno, NV., Laine and MaryAnn Christman of Reno, NV., Aaron Kapps of Columbus, Kyle Kapps of Columbus; along with her sister Shirley Patterson of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; and two brothers, John Elmer Haas and Harold William Haas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday May 25, 2012 at the Ashland Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Slater and Pastor Don Highman officiating, burial will follow.
