na G. Strickling, age 88, of Massillon (Perry Heights) passed away Monday, September 29, 2008 at Massillon Community Hospital after complications initiated by a fall and fractures at home a little over a month ago.
She is originally from Rinard Mills, in Monroe County, Ohio and a graduate of Graysville High School, she came to Canton during the World War II years and worked at several factories supporting the war effort.
In 1952 she married Jesse H. Strickling who she met in Canton but who was also from Monroe County, Ohio. After that she was the traditional "stay at home" Mom for her sons and was skilled in canning, cooking, baking, crocheting along with other things. She was a past member of PTA and had served as Vice President for Genoa Elementary PTA. She was also a long time member of the 38th St. Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by husband, Jesse H. Strickling in 1986 and stillborn daughter, Candace; parents, John F. and Laura Weckbacher of Rinard Mills, Ohio; sisters, Ada Armstrong and Hazel Wright; brothers, Clyde Weckbacher and Lester Weckbacher.
Ina is survived by her sons, Fred Strickling of Canton and Dan Strickling of Massillon; sisters, Vera Scott of Cuyahoga Falls and Virginia Moore of North Canton; brothers, Denzil Weckbacher of Monroe Falls, Ohio and Delbert (Madalyn) Weckbacher of Canton; sister-in-law, Velma Weckbacher, who has been of special assistance and companionship in her latter years, sisters-in-law, Yvonne Weckbacher of New Matamoras, Ohio, Jane Strickling of Woodsfield, Ohio, Helen Stone of Plant City, Florida and Cyrena (Marvin) Campbell of Plant City, Florida. Also surviving her and cherished by her are many nieces and nephews, long time neighbors and close friends, notably Jean Bane of Canton.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 1:30 p.m in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Minister Lance Lindenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.
