Thomas V. Michel, age 78 of Carrollton, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in the Great Trail Care Center in Minerva following an extended illness. Tom was a retired carpenter, an avid gardener and Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved playing cards and was well known for his practical jokes. Tom was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Akron.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Lucille (Haren) Michel; daughters, Julie (Monte) Lane of Minerva, Janet Michel of Akron, Karen (Dan) Crookston of Clinton and Nancy (Raymond) Gallegos of Colorado; sons, Lee (Debbie) Michel of Carrollton, James Michel of Florida, Paul (Lori) Michel of Texas and Tom (DeeDee) Michel of Carrollton; sister, Miriam Schillig of Columbus; brothers, Virgil of Harrisburg, Richard of Louisville, Bob of Massillon, Charles of N. Canton, Terry of Louisville and Mark of Canton; eighteen grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister, Jane Cuenot and brothers, Ted, Bernard, Norbert and Vincent.
A Requiem High Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Akron with Rev. Fr. Leo Carley officiating. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery in Louisville. Tom's family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville where a Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 p.m.
