  [S927] Obituary. March 12, 2012 Josephine "Jo" (Geenen) Solari, Josephine ?Jo? (Geenen) Solari, age 80, lifelong Amesbury resident, died Saturday evening, March 10, 2012 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Louis J. Solari, who died February 3, 2000. Born in Amesbury, August 3, 1931, she was one of three daughters of the late Andrew F. and Florence E. (Blanchard) Geenen and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Class of 1949 and was a member of the ?49ers. She was active in high school as a band member and secretary of her class. She continued the office of secretary through 62 years of class reunions. Jo worked at the Amesbury Town Clerk?s Office as well as the Amesbury Elementary School, retiring after 28 years of service. Jo was a faithful parishioner of the Holy Family Parish and was always available to help with any church project, including the many years she served with the ladies of the Activities Committee. She leaves behind her children, Judith A. Smith and husband John D. of Hinsdale, NH; James A. Solari and wife Paula of Newburyport; Jean S. Brooke and husband James W. of Centreville, VA and Joanne Solari of Durham, NC; seven grandchidlren, who filled her heart with much joy, Heather Smith of Orangeburg, SC; Melissa Smith of Durham, NC; Allison Smith of Boston; Nicole Solari of N. Andover; Tricia Solari of Medford; Meagan Brooke of Ashburn, VA and Kevin Brooke of Arlington, VA; her sister, Catherine Calnan of Amesbury; along with several generations of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her son, John A. Solari and her sister, Claudia Donovan. ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 3 to 8 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A. M. at St. Joseph Church of the the Holy Family Parish, School Street, Amesbury, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury. Donations in memory of Josephine may be made to the Holy Family Parish, 11 Sparhawk Street, Amesbury, MA 01913.
