Charles Meyer, 73 (added May 5)
FERDINAND - Charles W. Meyer, 73, died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Mariah Hill, he was born May 31, 1930, the son of the late Maurice and Rosalia (Brenner) Meyer. He was married Sept. 27, 1952, to the former Patricia Seufert at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He retired from DMI Furniture Co. as a foreman. He was an avid forest park ranger, St. Louis Cardinals Fan, pioneer of Jeep four wheel drive vehicle, avid archery deer hunter and fly fishing in the tri state area.
He was preceded in by three sisters, Ruth Gerber, Dorothy Heinig and Margaret Meyer; a brother, Edgar Meyer; and his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia; two sons, Stephen of Orlando, Fla., and Duane of Jasper; a daughter, Jacqueline Kempf of St. Anthony; a sister, Joanne Huthsteiner of Tell City; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand, where a parish prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
