Phyllis L. Scherger
Phyllis L. Scherger, 81, of Fostoria, died 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
Phyllis was born April 25, 1924, in Tiffin to the late Clement and Isabel (Lichtle) Cook. She married Paul J. Scherger Aug. 7, 1954, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shari Scherger; and two granddaughters, Melanie Scherger and Katrina Niswander, all of Fostoria.
Two brothers, Verner and Charles Cook, and one sister, Florine Cochran, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Scherger retired as the F-tower operator in 1983 from C & O Railroad in Fostoria after 41 years of employment. She also had worked in the Bradner and Risingsun depots during her career with the railroad. Phyllis was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and was a 1942 graduate of St. Wendelin High School.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends are invited to call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m.
