Ruth E. Marzilli 1921 - 2015
?Together Again?
94 of Canal Fulton died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. She was born Wednesday, March 16, 1921 in Canal Fulton to the late George and Anna (Paulus) Gill and was a graduate of Canal Fulton High School in 1939. She worked at the Hoover Company during World War II, Ries Meats and Lay Bros. Ruth was a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church for 80 years, a member of the SS Philip and James Altar and Rosary Society, where she held numerous board positions throughout her membership. Ruth also was a member of Canal Fulton VFW Auxiliary #9795, member of the 4 O'clock Card Club, Volunteer at Massillon Community Hospital and was a Board of Elections Worker. She married Andrew L. Marzilli, February 18, 1943 at SS Philip & James by Rev. Father Maurer. Andrew died October 14, 2008, they had been married for 65 years. She loved baking, sewing, gardening, playing cards, Scrabble, taking care of and having fun and Sunday dinners with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Andrew in October, 2015; brothers, Raymond (Sally) Gill; Robert "Bob" (Helen) Gill and sister Hazel (Delmar) Culp. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Kenneth) Null, of Canal Fulton, Ann (Ernest) Mertens of Bath and Mary Jane (Timothy) Fahrney of North Canton; Grandchildren, Steven (Carrie) Null, Traci (Michael) Zeigler and Christopher (Laura) Fahrney; great-grandchildren, Jack Null, Isabella Zeigler, Eve Null, Caroline Fahrney, Anna Grace Fahrney. The Family would like to thank the Sisters of Congregation of the Divine Spirit, nurses and staff of The House of Loreto, and Kathy Uhlman for their compassion and care during her residency. And the Altar and Rosary Society of SS Philip and James for their continued prayers, cards and words of encouragement. The Family would also like to thank Joyce Berry for her kindness, friendship and loving care of their Mother and Father over the past several years.
Mass of Christian Burial WEDNESDAY, 11:30 a.m. at SS Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 High Street N. Canal Fulton. OH 44614 with Fr. Kevin McCafferty and Fr. Ed Obermiller C.S.C., her great nephew, concelebrants. Friends may call WEDNESDAY from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. East (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton). Following a reception at the church, Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, Jackson Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The House of Loreto, 2812 Harvard Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44709 or the Altar & Rosary Society of SS Philip & James Catholic Church.
