Birth: Nov. 12, 1891 Death: Jul. 17, 1992 Herbert Carroll Bowersock, 100, of Juliana, Parkersburg, died Friday at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. Bowersock had taught in the Wood County School System for seven years before going to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Parkersburg. He worked for the post office in Parkersburg for 32 years before being transferred to the Vienna branch of the post office, where he served as the service superintendent for three years. After retiring from the Postal Service, he worked at the Wood County Courthouse for 12 years as a deputy assessor for William Boso. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late Edward W. and Isabelle Stephens Bowersock. He is survived by one daughter, Eleanor Davis of Parkersburg; one grandson, Norman L. Kendall of Parkersburg; one granddaughter Eleanore Anne Davis Erk of Memphis, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna L. Bowersock, in 1987; one son, Herbert Bowersock Jr.; and one daughter, Helen B. Kendall, in 1991. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with William Mounts officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
