Obituary, New Castle News, PA, June 4, 2002: Ruth Jerome - Retired nurse Ruth Jerome, 69, of Ellwood City, died June 3, 2002, at her home. Born Oct. 5, 1932, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Edward R. and Bertilla Kossler Slevin. She was married to Albert Jerome for 47 years. He survives. Mrs. Jerome worked 20 years for Passavant Health and Retirement Center in Zelienople in various supervisory positions. She retired in 1998 as director of nursing. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, Pittsburg. Mrs. Jerome enjoyed needlework, gardening, and all things Italian. In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Tony Bezek of North Huntingdon Township, Pa., Dr. Karen Jerome-Zapadka of Beaver Falls and Maura Carney of Ellwood City; two sons, Mark Jerome of Cranberry and Darrell Jerome of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Helen Sockaci of FFombell; and 11 gradchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Jerome in January 2000; two brothers, Ed Slevin and Tom Slevin. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Agatha Church, Holy Redeemer Parish. Memorial contributions may be made to the Women;s Center of Beaver County.
