Betty L. Bates, age 88, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center. She was born in Monroe County, Ohio on Jan. 14, 1925 to the late Henry and Mary Feldner. Betty was the owner/operator of Sunshine Laundry for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Bates on Dec. 23, 2008; and three brothers, Edward, Paul and Charles Feldner. Survivors include two sons, Terry Bates and Danny (Earl Johns) Bates; daughter, Patty Jo (Glen) Martin; two grandchildren, Mindy Marciniak and Bryon (Hiedi) Bates; great-grandchildren, Fantasia, Cheyenne, Corey, Dustin and Brandon; four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, John, Donald and Gary Feldner; and her sister, Shirley Butler. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel. Burial will follow in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
