"Dave" Hess, 69, of Frederick, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Skarbonkiewicz Hess. Born Dec. 27, 1939, in Frederick, he was the son of Margaret Whisner Hess of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and the late Robert E. Hess. Peter was the founder and chairman of Business Management Company Inc., BMC Software Dev. Inc., BMC Computer Products Inc., and PDH Writings Inc. He was a faithful member for many years of New Life Foursquare Church and recently attended Cornerstone Fellowship. He served on the board of New Life Foursquare Church, board of Frederick Union Rescue Mission, former C E director at NLFC. and was famous for storytelling at children's programs. He coached little league, and H.S. boy and girl's basketball at NLCS. Mr. Hess was author of numerous fiction and non-fiction novels such as "Three Days of Darkness," the "Invisible Hero" and the bi-weekly newsletter "Radical Discipleship." In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Brett Hess and wife, Kim, Tim Hess and wife, Stacie, Jennifer Beers and husband, David, and Heather Martin and husband, Ben; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Tim W. Hess and Steve Hess; and one sister, Jody Wheeler. He was preceded in death by a brother, R. Michael Hess. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 12 and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, from Lynfield Event Complex, 10142 Hansonville Road, (Route 15 N.) , Frederick. Interment will be held in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made, in his memory, to the New Life Christian School, 5913 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703.
