PICKENS, 89, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Pleasant Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant. The daughter of the late James and Cora Covert, Ruth was born May 26, 1916, in Woodsfield, Ohio. She was one of 12 children, with three brothers and eight sisters. Ruth married Paul Smith Pickens on July 17, 1934. They were married 49 years and had three sons. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son Jerry Pickens; two brothers and two sisters; grandson Jeffery Pickens; and daughter-in-law Garnett Pickens. She is survived by sons Jack Pickens of Denver, Colo., and Joe Pickens of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Sand Hill Road Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery.
