Unger, 62, of Lowell Rt. 2 died at 5:15 this morning at Marietta Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was born April 3, 1924, in Noble County to William E. and Elsie Lenora Nieb Unger. He had been employed as a foreman at Elkem Metals Co. and had retired in October 1982 following 27 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and had attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Harrietsville High School and Marietta Business College. He is survived by his wife, Merylin Harra, whom he married Dec. 28, 1944; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Hewitt of Youngstown; three sons, William E. of Chandler, Ariz.; C. Michael of Marietta and Stephan of Culver City, Calif.; three grandsons; and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Shirley) Denhart of Sunrise, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Marietta chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. The Rev. Dianne Wisemiller will officiate with the Rev. Robert O. Rahe assisting. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery near Harrietsville. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and up until the time of services Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
