Clara (Walters) Tiede, 87
September 5, 1917 - January 31, 2005
Funeral services for Clara J. Tiede were held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at 10 a.m., at Salem United Church of Christ, Parkston, with the Rev. Elmo Herman officiating. Music was furnished by the UCC Men?s Quartet, Paul Weidenbach, soloist, and Mary Tiede, organist.
Interment was made in the Parkston Protestant Cemetery with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Mark Tiede, Darrel Tiede, Charles Mogck, Jim Tiede, Jim Schnabel, and Dean Mogck.
Clara J. Tiede was born September 5, 1917, to Jacob and Mary (Tschetter) Walters near Freeman. She attended Freeman Academy High School, graduating in 1935. She then attended Freeman Junior College and graduated with a teaching certificate in 1936. She taught grade school until 1947.
She was united in marriage to Arnett Tiede on January 23, 1946, at the Tyndall Baptist Church in Tyndall. Together they farmed near Parkston until retiring into town in 1980.
She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston where she was an active member of the church.
She died Monday, Jan. 31, at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by her husband, Arnett, Parkston; a son, Robert Tiede and wife, Sherry, Plano, Texas; a daughter, Carol Huff and husband, Joe, Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Bill Tiede and wife, Meridith, Plano, Christy Tiede and husband, Stas Tiede, Dallas, Texas, Becca Davidson and husband, Greg, Frisco, Texas, and Sara Tiede, Plano; three great-grandchildren, Tommy, Sophie, and Kai; a brother, Carney Walters and wife, Betty, Sioux Falls; and five sisters, Elizabeth Schnabel, Tripp, Bertha Elpert and husband, Paul, Sioux Falls, Marie Kiehlbaugh, Phoenix, Ariz., Lilly Rose Ortman and husband, Ervin, Portland, Ore., and Leona Mogck and husband, Duane, Scotland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Max Walters.
