Ruth Murphy Clancy, 88, died at 7:55 a.m. Dec. 24, 2009, at the Ridge at Shawnee. She was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Lima, to William S. and Alice Custy Murphy, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 21, 1944, she married Robert Clancy, who died in 1979. Mrs. Clancy had been a nurse?s aide for the American Red Cross. She had also worked at the Lima Locomotive Works and the Lima Post Office. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and its Widows Group. Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Michael) Dorley, of Lima; a brother, Richard (Janet) Murphy, of Lima; six grandchildren, William (Clara) Campbell, Lori (Rick) Boughan, Dan Dorley, Angela (Marc) Bowker, Doug Dorley and Mikey Dorley; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Campbell; and 11 siblings: Alfred Murphy, Louis Murphy, William Murphy, Cornelius Murphy, Robert Murphy, Charles Murphy, Donald Murphy, twins Leo and Leonard Murphy, Alice Lane and Cecelia Murphy. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Stephen Blum will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or to The Ridge at Shawnee.
