He was born Nov. 26, 1915 in Sewellsville, a son of the late Phillip and Eva Burkhart Burkhart. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.'s former Benwood mill and a Protestant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bennington Burkhart four brothers, John, Paul, Elmer'and Henry; two sisters, Annie Williams and Katherine Burkhart. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy "Dee" Allison of Oscoda, Mich.; a brother, Lawrence of: Shadyside; two grandchildren; four great-grandsons. Friends will be received from noon Saturday until time of services at 2 p.m. at Bauknecht Funeral Home, 441 37th St., Bellaire, with the Rev. Kurt Landerholm officiating.
