Elizabeth Schroeder Koenig Birth: Mar. 3, 1884 Death: Jan. 12, 1958 Manitowoc Manitowoc County Wisconsin, USA Mrs. Jacob Koenig Dies After Extended illness Mrs. Jacob Koenig, 73, of Valders, route one, a life-long resident of the county, passed away Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs.Charles Brown at 1330 S. 7th St., Manitowoc. Mrs. Koenig had been in ill health for an extended period of time and in the fall went to the home of her daughter in Manitowoc. Funeral services were held at 8:45 A. M. Wednesday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home in Manitowoc, and at 9:30 A.M. at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. The Rev. Denis Cooney officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Koenig, nee Elizabeth Schroeder, was born March 3, 1884, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Charles and Fredrika Kasbaum Schroeder. She married Jacob Koenig Nov. 19, 1902, at Alverno, and the couple resided at Silver Lake for ten years where Mr. Koenig was a blacksmith. Since 1914 the couple had farmed near St. Nazianz. The couple observed their 55th wedding anniversary in November. Mrs. Koenig was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of St. Nazianz, a past president of the Christian Mothers Society and the Third Order of St. Francis. She helped organize the St. Nazianz Homemakers and was a leader for 12 years She also did 4-H Club work and was an adult leader for six years. Survivors are her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Brown of Manitowoc, Mrs.Ray Meyer and Mrs. Edward Dyzbalys of Valders, Mrs. Joseph Schnettler of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Herbert Leonhard of Tucson,, Arizona; three sons, Earl of Manitowoc, Elmer of Valders, route one, on the home farm, and Robert of the U. S. Navy at Long Beach, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
