Sam was born July 12, 1921 to Samuel Alton Moore and Cecilia Caroline Kindler Moore in Marion, Indiana. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #497 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sam was a civil engineer and was a recipient of the Smooth Paving Award from Rieth-Riley Construction Company. He was known by his peers by the name "Miler-Moore", and has been featured in several editions of Construction Digest. In loving memory Sam is cherished by his wife of fifty-four years, Evelyn May DeGolyer Moore; sons, Sammy A. Moore and Scott J. Moore; daughter, Susan Bennett-Kikendall; grandson, Christopher Bennett; brother-in-law, Robert (Delores) DeGolyer of Reno, Nevada; nephews, Patrick M. Jones and Michael Jones; niece, Carol A.
