  [S927] Obituary. Loretta Bender, 87, Bismarck died September 14, 2006, at a Bismarck care center. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck with Rev. Walter Schott officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck Loretta was born on May 2, 1919, the daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Burrer) Doerr at Eureka, SD. She was raised on the family homestead and educated near Eureka, SD Loretta married August Bender on June 30, 1938 in Eureka, SD; they then moved to Bismarck, where Loretta worked. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was an active member in the United Methodist Women's Circle. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, and traveling. Loretta especially enjoyed the winters in California with her husband. Loretta is survived by her son, Duane and his wife, Judy Bender of Texas; her grandson, Derek and wife, Trinh Bender and great-grandchildren, Aiden Bender, Kristina and Kathryn Vuong of Texas; her granddaughter, Andrea and husband, Michael Sims and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Sims all of Texas; her five sisters, Irene Schlekau of Nipomo, CA, Frances Kallenberger of Huron, SD, Alice Kurle of Eureka, SD, Bernice Franklund of Wilton, ND, and Delores Thurn of Wishek, ND; and one sister-in-law, Viola Doerr of Minot, ND Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, August; her parents; and her two brothers, Oscar and Willie Doerr.
