Birth: Sep. 23, 1863, Ukraine Death: Jul. 31, 1947 McPherson County South Dakota, USA The Herald, Java, South Dakota, August 15, 1947, page 4, column two Funeral services were held August 04, for Friederick Schott, 84 year old pioneer of the Eureka community who passed away at his home nine miles northwest of Eureka on July 31. He was born in Hoffnungstal, South Russia, on September 23, 1863, and lived there until a year after his marriage. He married Magdalena Rieker on January 10, 1885, and during the month of July, 1886 they came to Lesterville, South Dakota. Later they pushed northward, farming in the Eureka territory until 1927 when he gave the duty to his youngest son, Edward. Mr. Schott enjoyed good health until April 1947 when he was stricken with a heart aailment He is survived by his wife, four sons, five daughters, two sisters, 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Son of Peter Schott and Johanna Singer.
