Toliver, 92, of Rantoul passed away on Sunday morning (Sept. 16, 2012) at Heartland Health Care, Paxton. She was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Pesotum, a daughter of Leo and Katherine (Rund) Smith. She married Wayne Toliver on June 30, 1949, in Urbana. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1992. She is survived by four children, Cheri Gibbons, Debbie (Chris) Baskis, Tad (Teri) Toliver and Tod (Carla) Toliver, all of Rantoul; a brother; four sisters; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters. Joan was member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. She was an avid Illini and Cardinals fan. Most importantly, she was a loving mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Malachy. Father Steven Bird will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. Memorials may be made to the family.
