Walter, 53, died of a sudden heart attack Monday night at his home on Montridge Drive shortly after he had returned from his office in the Guide Building. Dr. Walter, who had practiced medicine here for 21 years, was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Elm Grove, W. Va., a son of Albert H. and Emma Wichterman Walter. He attended West Liberty Teachers' college for two years and West Virginia University for two years, graduating in 1937. He then enrolled in the Medical School of Western Reserve University, Cleveland, graduating in 1941, and served his internship at Youngstown hospital before beginning practice in Canfield. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army Medical Corps with a rank of second lieutenant and was discharged after two years service, with the rank of captain. He then resumed his practice here. Dr. Walter served as a member of the Canfield board of education for 14 years, resigning from the board last June for personal reasons. He was an elder of the Canfield United Presbyterian church, and a member of the church choir. Dr. Walter was a member of the American College of Allergists; national, state and county medical societies, serving as secretary of the latter group; and a past president of the Academy of General Practice, Mahoning County Chapter. He was also active in Boy Scout work. Surviving are his wife, the former Mabel Swisher, to whom he was married Nov. 16, 1940; two sons, Clyde K. Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., and Donald B., a student at Ohio State University, Columbus, and two brothers, Dr. Austin J. Walter of Sautee, Georgia, and Dr. Robert D. Walter of Calhoun, Georgia. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Charles Fulcomer, were held Thursday afternoon in the Presbyterian church, and interment made in the Canfield cemetery." WW II, Capt.
