OBITUARYRose Borreson
Nov. 7, 1927-July 7, 2004
CROSBY, N.D. - Rose Borreson, 76, Crosby, formerly Noonan, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Crosby's St. Luke's Hospital Swing Bed Unit from lung cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12th, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Crosby, with the Rev. Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Stakston-Martin Funeral Home, Crosby, and for one hour prior to service time Monday at the church.
Rose was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Lampman, Saskatchewan, Canada, on her parent's farm. She was a daughter of Marcus and Molly (Espenlider) Briltz. Rose came to Divide County as a "war bride" and was married to Einar H. Borreson on Sept. 11, 1948, at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Five years later, she became a citizen of the United States.
They worked and lived on the Borreson farm 11 miles northwest of Noonan in Long Creek Township, Divide County. They moved to Crosby in 1992, retiring in 1996.
Einar preceded her in death on April 3, 1998.
Rose was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was active in the church circles and their quilting. She belonged to the Long Creek Birthday Club, was a Scout Den Leader and a leader for the Farmer's Union Youth.
For many years she worked as a volunteer at the Divide County Threshing Bee cooking breakfast and was a volunteer hairdresser at the Crosby Good Samaritan Center.
She enjoyed hosting people at the farm and at the house in town. She also loved crafts, visiting those ill and playing cards.
She is survived by one son, Kenny (Bonnie) of Crosby; one daughter, Linda (Henry) Patterson of Minot; three grandsons, Steve of Williston, Matt and Mark of Minot; two granddaughters, Polly of Minot and Patty of Fargo; one great-grandson; a sister, Marie McLemore of Texas; and brothers, Matt Briltz of Colorado, Mike Briltz of Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada; Jonney Briltz of Oregon and Ray Briltz of Regina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.
