Jacob at the age of 19 with his parents and siblings; Andreas, Peter, George, Johann and Sophia, immigrated to America via the Port or Breman, Germany aboard the SS "Werra" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York, on the 1st of April 1885. Jacob married Karolina Hinger in about 1890 in Campbell County, South Dakota. This union was blessed with no less than ten children.
