Viola M. Vandaele
May 14, 1918 – November 2, 2014
Viola M. Vandaele, 96, of Monroe, passed away at 4:39 p.m. Sunday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Church. Rev. James Smalarz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
Viola was born May 14, 1918 in Carleton. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Livernois. She married Julius “Van” Vandaele April 30, 1949 at St. John the Baptist Church; he preceded her in death on March 30, 1995.
She had been a bookkeeper for Consolidated Paper and C & H Welding.
Viola was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy.
Viola enjoyed embroidering, playing euchre, and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her warm heart and loving personality. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Michael) Maletich and Janice “Jan” (Raymond) Fritz both of Monroe; six grandchildren, Matthew Maletich, Megan Maletich, Amber Maletich, Raymond (Summer) Fritz, Jonathan (Rachael) Fritz and Bryan (his fiancé Cara Laginess) Fritz and two great grandchildren, Christopher and Bailey Fritz.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher M. Fritz and four sisters, Ethel Nadeau, Helen Mcgowan-Grodi, Luella Livernois and Irene Lofberg.
