  [S926] Find-A-Grave, (www.findagrave.com). Birth: Aug. 6, 1861 Death: Jan. 27, 1947 William Edward Blank was the second child of John Blank and Elizabeth Engelmann. Born in Mason, West Virginia, he lived in Canal Fulton most of his life. He married Harriet Lavinia Pfiffer on May 5, 1885. He was the father of three children, Bertha Helen, William Arnold, and Dorothy Isabel. William and his brother were co-owners of the Blank Brothers Grocery, and later together in the French Cereal Company. Later, William opened the William Blank Coal Company, which he ran with his son. William was active in politics on the local scene as a Democrat. He was town clerk for 4 years, and treasurer of Canal Fulton. William was also active in the Canal Fulton Orchestra, playing Bass, and in the Imperial Band of Canal Fulton, playing Baritone. William Blank was also a juror in the infamous George Saxton murder case, helping to find Mrs. Anna George not guilty of killing the brother of Ida Saxton McKinley, the wife of President McKinley in 1899. One of his lasting legacies to his family was purchasing 4 cottages on Turkeyfoot Lake in the Portage Lakes area in the early 1920's, 3 of which remain in the family and are enjoyed to this day.
