  BIOGRAPHY: http://www.genealogy.com/users/c/h/r/David-Alan-Christianson/FILE/0004text.txt BERNHOLD AND MALINDA LADNER Bernhold Ladner was born in rural Eureka, South Dakota December 159 1915 to John Ladner and Maria (Grueneich) Ladner. His father died June 13, 1959 and his mother died February 15, 1978. Bernhold has two brothers, Julius Ladner, Eureka; Reinhold Ladner, Lead; and one sister Emma (Mrs. August Opp), Eureka. Bernhold opened a produce business in Eureka in September, 1938. Bernhold Ladner married Malinda Koerner on October 27, 1940. Malinda was born 15 miles northeast of Eureka on February 23, 1919 to Jacob and Carolina Koerner. Jacob died July 30, 1969 and Carolina died December 5, 1971. Bernhold and Malinda Ladner After their marriage, Malinda took an interest in the produce business and together they ran the business through many good years and some very competitive years. They closed the business in June of 1971. Bernhold worked for the Eureka City Liquor Store from July 1971 to July 1981 and Malinda assisted him. Bernhold retired due to ill health. They have one daughter, Caroline Mary, born May 6, 1943, grandchildren, Charlotte and Allen. Their son, Clark Gale, born January 25, 1951, grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer and Michelle. The Bernhold Ladners also have one great grandson and one great granddaughter, deceased. They are members of the Eureka Reformed Church. Bernhold was a past member of the Eureka Chamber of Commerce. He died October 11, 1985 at Americana Nursing Home. Malinda is a housewife and homemaker, she is a member of the Reformed Ladies Aid, Hospital Auxiliary and Sewing Club. She resides at 507 11th Street. Her interests now are sewing and crafts.
