  BIOGRAPHY: http://www.genealogy.com/users/c/h/r/David-Alan-Christianson/FILE/0004text.txt ALLEN AND IONA KOERNER Allan Koerner was born July 21, 1923 on a farm fifteen miles northeast of Eureka to Jacob and Karoline Koerner. He attended the Odessa No.2 Country School through eighth grade. He then helped his parents with the farming. Allen and Iona Koerner On October 21, 1945 he married Iona Mutschler, born April 7, 1924, the daughter of Fred and Helena Mutschler. Iona grew up on the farm and went to Gluecksthal Country School one-half mile north of Eureka. After their marriage, they started farming on his parent's farm. Many improvements were made during the years living there. Allen took great interest in raising and promoting Registered Polled Hereford cattle. He was awarded with several Benchmark Dam Certificates. They are active members of the Eureka Reformed Church. Allen has served on the consistry as deacon and treasurer for several years. Iona is a charter member of the Ladies Aid and also has held various offices. Allan was also a country school board member and the treasurer for the rural telephone company. Iona has kept herself busy with gardening in the summer months and doing sewing and oil paintings, usually during the winter months. Allan and Iona plan to retire from farming in the spring of 1986 and move to the city of Eureka.
