Death was due to a heart attack. He was a native of South Dakota aged 44 years. Mettler was feeling in his usual good health yesterday morning and attended the game with members of his family. He sank to the grass while watching and those around him thought that he had sat down for a rest. Then it was noticed that he had collapsed and he was immediately brought to Mason hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Deputy Coroner Sam Sales investigated. The deceased was the husband of Katie Mettler, father of Arnold Mettler; brother of Gottlieb and Henry Mettler, all of Lodi; brother of Emma Mettler of Santa Maria; son of Mr. and Mrs. George Mettler of Lodi. The remains are at Wells Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed.
