Nies, age 95, of Auburn, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011.Her parents were Williamn Fredrich and Augusta Caroline (Hitzke) Puhlmann. She was the youngest of 8 children. 5 boys and 3 girls. Frances grew up in the Lutheran Faith and was baptized on Nov. 19, 1916 and confirmed in June 1930. She grew up on the farm and attended school through the 8th grade. She married Reuben Nies on Nov. 26, 1936 at Ashley, N.D. and two sons were born to their union. Gerald and Darrold. They farmed for 36 years and went to the Johannestal Baptist (country) Church where they were members. She taught SundaySchool and sang in the choir. In 1972 they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. and she worked at the Sioux Valley Hospital for 6 years. In 1976 they moved back to Eureka to retire. There were 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In 1997 she moved to Auburn, NE. to be near her remaining son and family. She entered the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in 2002. She passed away there Dec. 31, 2011. (died at Auburn, Nemaha, NE). at the age of 95 years. 7 months and 19 days. Her husband Reuben died in 1995, her sons, Gerald in 1992 and Darrold in 2003 and also her daughter in law, MyraFuneral services will be Thursday, January 5, 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Eureka, S.D. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery.
