He married Katherina Burrer on January 30, 1917. She was born July 2, 1897 on the Burrer homestead to Christian and Elizabeth (nee Albrecht) Burrer. Jacob died in April 1957 and Katherina died in May 1980. Jacob and Katherina had nine children. Loretta is married to August Bender and lives in Bismarck, North Dakota. They have one son. Oscar lives in Santa Maria, California. Willie is married to Viola Kurle and lives in Minot, North Dakota. They have one daughter. Irene is married to Walter Schlekau. They live in Nipomo, California. Frances is married to Floyd Kallenberger and lives in Huron, South Dakota. They have two children. Alice is married to Harvey Kurle and lives in Eureka. They have three daughters. Bernice is married to Ulane Franklund and lives near Wilton, North Dakota. They have three children.
