D'ANTONI Blaise Salvador D'Antoni, Jr., age 86, died on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Kindred Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1923 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Blaise (Dan) Salvador D'Antoni and Edna Fabacher D'Antoni, and his two brothers, Lawrence and Donald D'Antoni. Blaise D'Antoni is survived by his wife, Gloria Cahill (Sweetheart) D'Antoni, and four children: Joan D'Antoni, John D'Antoni (wife Cassandra), Edward D'Antoni (wife Susan), and Blaise S. D'Antoni III (wife Lynda). Blaise and Sweetheart were married for 65 years. His grandchildren include Greg and Jeff Harris, Miranda Miller, Claire, Ben, Lydia, John, Evan, Christina, Laura and Blaise D'Antoni. He is also survived by five great grandchildren Blaise D'Antoni graduated from Jesuit High School in the Class of 1940. He began Tulane University after graduating from high school, and then enlisted in the United States Navy in World War II and served in the rank of Lieutenant in the European arena. After the war, he returned to Tulane University and graduated in 1948 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for many years as Executive Vice President at Jackson Brewery, and as a Vice President with Burke Kleinpeter retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Pius X Parish where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Usher for many years. He was a member of the Southern Yacht Club. The family wishes to thank his loving caregivers, Melvina Benfield, Helen Brooks, and Mildred Hogan. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd. on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 12:00 noon. Interment in Metairie Cemetery.
