Bowdle - Wilmer Boschee, 75, Bowdle, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Bowdle Nursing Home. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2005, at Evangel United Methodist Church, Bowdle, with Pastor Jacob Kirschenman officiating. Burial will follow at the Bowdle City Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Bowdle American Legion Post No. 264. Family and casketbearers are asked to meet at the Bowdle Legion Hall 9:45 a.m. Friday. Organist will be Kathy Fiechtner. Todd and Janel Brandt will sing. Ushers will be Evon Job and Barry Stotz. Visitation will be at Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle, beginning 11 a.m. Thursday with a 6 p.m. prayer service. Wilmer Boschee, son of Margaret (Bertsch) and Henry Boschee, was born Jan. 7, 1930, at his parents' farm south of Hillsview. At age 7, he and his family moved to a farm northeast of Java, and at age 12 they relocated to a farm five miles north and six miles east of Java. Wilmer attended rural school and was raised in this area. Following his schooling, he farmed with his parents. He married Wilma C. Fischer at Selby on June 26, 1951. The first year of their marriage they lived with Wilmer's parents, and in June 1952 they moved to a farm four miles south. Wilmer served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict being inducted on Nov. 6, 1952. He attained the rank of Sergeant and following his honorable discharge on Aug. 24, 1954, he and Wilma relocated to his parents' farm when his parents moved to Bowdle. Wilmer and Wilma remained on the farm until 1977, when they moved to Bowdle. Wilmer then farmed from town for one year before retiring from farming. He then managed the Liquor Store in Bowdle for 14 months and also had a share in the Super Rope Factory in Bowdle for some time. He was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Bowdle which he served as chairman, usher, and sang in the choir. He was a charter member and chairman for the Bowdle Area IV Nutrition Site Council Board from 1984-July 2003 and served on the Bowdle Equity Board for nine years. In addition to farming he also sold Conklin products for a number of years and also sold Standard Feed. He was a member of the Bowdle American Legion Post No. 264 and was a life member of the Selby-Java VFW Post No. 5094. Fishing was a favorite hobby as was gardening and growing big pumpkins, some as big as 108 pounds. Since Good Friday 2005, Wilmer had resided at the Bowdle Nursing Home. Wilmer's pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immense. Wilmer is survived by his wife Wilma Boschee of Bowdle; two sons, Dennis L. Boschee and his wife Sharon of Java, and Rick A. Boschee and his wife Julie of Bowdle; one daughter, Sandra A. Heilman and her husband Francis, Jr. of Bowdle; two brothers, Herbert Boschee of Seattle, Wash., and Elroy Boschee of Aberdeen; four sisters, Lorraine Kary and Darlene Dumdie of Selby, Elsie Gill of Kouts, Ind., Janice Stotz of Onaka; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Wilmer was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 8, 1970, his mother on May 23, 1984, one son (Rodney), two brothers and one sister. Honorary bearers will be all of Wilmer's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casketbearers will be James Geier, Jr., Lyle Heilman, Jesse Kappenman, and Andre Boschee all of Bowdle, Douglas Leidholt of Warner, and Bob Schaefer of Hoven. Miller Funeral Home of Bowdle is in charge of arrangements.
