- Virginia Irene Richhart Scher, 84 A sister of Beth Wiebke of Ossian, Virginia Irene Richhart Scher, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Dec. 8, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana. Formerly a resident of Woodburn, Mrs. Scher was a homemaker. Her first husband, Ross Richhart, died in 1983 and a daughter, Kathy, died in 1963. Surviving, in addition to the sister at Ossian, are her husband, George; five sons, George Richhart of Anderson, Robert Richhart and Calvin Richhart, both of New Haven, Gene Richhart of Harlan and Kevin Richhart of Woodburn; five daughters, Connie Poppele of Woodburn, and Diane Richhart, Elaine Richhart, Bonnie Denney and Cheryl Lothamer, all of New Haven; five stepsons, George Scher Jr., Terry Scher, Michael Scher and Pat Scher, all of Huntington, and Brother James Scher of Phoenix; two brothers, David Gene Smith and Donald Smith, both of Fort Wayne; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nine stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930E, New Haven, where calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday for one hour before services. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in New Haven. Memorials to ARC of Northeast Indiana, Sport, or to Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, both in Fort Wayne.
